Homemade Mac and Cheese

One night I couldn't figure out what to make for dinner. I happened to mention it to my friend Ali Walston and she gave me this recipe for homemade Mac and Cheese.

Homemade Mac and Cheese

1 1/2 cups macaroni
3 TBS margarine or butter
2 TBS flour
1/2 tsp salt
dash of pepper
1 cup milk
2 cups shredded cheese

Boil water. Cook macaroni for 10 minutes (or as instructed on noodle container). While cooking, melt butter in medium saucepan on medium heat. When melted, stir in flour mixture (flour, salt, pepper). Immediately stir in milk and heat until thick and bubbly. Then add cheese. When it's all melted, drain macaroni and add to cheese sauce in pan.

Homemade Mac (as we call it in our family) was one of my favorite things to eat growing up and my kids now love it too! I usually use cornstarch instead of flour. Yum yum!
